SNA's Annual Legislative Action Conference Set for Feb. 28-March 3

National Harbor, Md., February 23, 2010 - From February 28 though March 3, approximately 750 school nutrition professionals from across the nation will converge on Capitol Hill for the School Nutrition Association's (SNA) 38th annual Legislative Action Conference. These professionals will meet with members of Congress to discuss school meal issues and participate in a congressional hearing on Child Nutrition Reauthorization.

The conference will culminate in a session featuring US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and key congressional leaders charged with developing the Reauthorization legislation governing the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. School nutrition professionals from across the nation are available to discuss state of school meals at local level.

In addition to increasing the federal reimbursement for school meals, SNA members will call on Congress to require science-based, consistent national school nutrition standards to govern the sale of all foods and beverages available during the school day.
